Frank Mittelstadt was born in 1956 at Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Frank graduated from Madison Area Beaver Dam High School and later from Madison Area Technical College  in 1978 with an associate degree in Commercial Art. He reports, “Whether working in oils, acrylics, pastels or pencil, my deep reverence and respect for the natural world always surfaces in my art.”  Frank always strives for the most accurate portrayals of the natural world.  He is known best for his bold lighting and meticulous details.

Much of the inspiration for Frank’s work is found in his own backyard, the lake and marshes that surround his home.  Frank enjoys just about any activity that takes him outdoors – skiing, hiking, biking, fishing, camping, hunting, and golf! Currently he lives on Beaver Dam Lake with his lovely wife, Lori, a talented kitchen designer.

Frank has designed many collector plates for The Bradford Exchange as well as beer steins, wine labels, canoe paddles & pool cues too numerous to mention.  Many of his limited-edition prints have sold out and his originals are found in collections through-out North America!
